 As a Counselor:

Donna works with children ages 5 and up, adolescence, adults, individuals, couples and familes using a variety of therapy modalities individually designed to reach each person’s goals.

Some of the therapeutic modalities are:

Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reinstallation (EMDR)

EMDR seems to have a direct effect on the way that the brain processes information. Normal information processing is resumed, so following a successful EMDR session, a person no longer relives the images, sounds, and feelings when the event is brought to mind. You still remember what happened, but it is less upsetting.  Therefore, EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.

Thought Field Therapy (TFT)

TFT is the sequential tapping procedure that provides a code to nature’s healing system… when applied to problems it addresses their fundamental causes, balancing the body’s energy system, and allows you to eliminate most negative emotions or fears within minutes such as stress anxiety, smoking, phobias and much more.

Brainspotting  (BSP)

BSP makes use of the natural phenomenon of the body’s natural self-scanning and self healing ability through its use of relevant eye positions. The use of BSP locates, focuses, processes and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions.    BSP can also be used to find and strengthen our natural resources and resilience. BSP is designed as a therapeutic tool that can be integrated into many healing modalities.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things, like people, situations, and events.  The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel / act better even if the situation does not change.

Faith-Based Approach Therapy

Faith-based therapy seeks to be holistic by incorporating the vital element of spirituality/faith with other therapy modalities to those requesting this approach.  My personal approach to incorporate spirituality/faith is to meet you where you are at in your own  journey and help to create harmony between your beliefs, experiences, thoughts, emotions, and actions.  While my personal view is Judeo-Christian, you are welcome and I hope you will be comfortable regardless of religious tradition.
